Incredible Time Saver for Decorating Your Home
I bought this book during a remodel of our home. I still have it and use it for all my decorating. The pocket pages are the best for storing samples and the grid design is great for showing your room to perspective contractors. If you take it with you shopping, you will have all your information and color swatches with you for every project. It makes a wonderful gift for a new home owner, or for that first apartment.

With Pen in Hand: The Healing Power of Writing
Published in Paperback by Perseus Publishing (07 January, 2003)
Author: Henriette Anne Klauser
Average review score:

Healing through writing
I read this book for an article for Journals at BellaOnline.com. I found this to be one of the finest books on journal writing that I've read so far. It is not for everyone. However, if you have suffered a painful experience and don't seem to find your way out of it--I suggest this book. I have found writing to be therapeutic also. Dr. Klauser gives suggestions on techniques that help a hurting person write. She does this through the stories of people who have used different techniques to heal from painful and sometimes horrific circumstances. I highly recommend this book.

With these hands : a collection of work
Published in Unknown Binding by Weidenfeld & Nicolson ()
Author: Pam Ayres
Average review score:

With this smile
This collection of Pam Ayres' poems tells us how she came to be a poet before explaining the mysteries of all the things hands are used for!

Pam has chosen to include some prose in which she shares with us some snapshots about her life - holidaying at Gumpy's beach, her thoughts about aging gracefully ('Will I have to be sexy at 60?'), wonderbras, the realities of keeping chickens, the feelings of parents as a child's sports team is mercilessly thrashed...the list goes on.

My favourite is 'Yes, I'll marry you, my dear' which explains the practicalities of marriage from a uniquely female perspective!

As in all her poetry, Pam has a special ability to make us laugh.

The Wonder of Hands (Monogram Book)
Published in School & Library Binding by Atheneum (March, 1992)
Authors: Edith Baer and Tana Hoban
Average review score:

The pictures are worth every penny!
This is a lovely book that uses simple words and ideas to tell us how many wonderful things we can do with our hands. We work, play, fight, love and explore our vast world with them. The black-and-white photographs depict people of many ages and races doing things with their hands...so powerful are the pictures that the words almost seem secondary to the book itself. Great book for young children!

Woodworker's Hand Tools: An Essential Guide
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publications (December, 2001)
Author: Rick Peters
Average review score:

Excellent and valuable guide to hand tools
This is an excellent book.

I just popped on to Amazon to see what other books the author has because this one was so good - saw there were no reviews so thought I would just add my 2c
- detailed and comprehensive
- magnificent colour photos throughout
- every topic, every tool jam packed with gems of tips, it seemed that everything had something new to add
- tells you what, why, how for every tool imaginable

note this is for HAND tools that means hand powered, NOT electric tools held in your hand, we're talking chisels etc.. here, but also things such as vices, sharpening stones etc.. etc.. it covers all the traditional tools.

very good, well worth a look, even if you experienced it is a good read, and if you are a beginner, well it is excellent

The Work of His Hands : The Agony and Ecstasy of Being Conformed to the Image of Christ
Published in Hardcover by Vine Books (September, 2002)
Author: Ken Gire
Average review score:

sculpture can teach so much
most of us know the statue of the PIETA, but did we ever
really look deep into the meaning and beauty of this famous
work of art. For example when the author studies the eyes
of Mary he shows us things that we have never seen before. He looks at her hands and sees insights into life and suffering
in her hands.......He even looks at the savage attack made on
this beautiful sculpture and shows us that we can learn much
from that also...this book would be a perfect Lenten meditation,
or a book for someone who is suffering in the hospital and trying to find meaning in all the suffering...READ IT AND YOU WILL WANT TO SHARE IT WITH SOMEONE YOU LOVE...

Dover's low-priced edition brings you Mozart's delightful sonatas for one piano four-hands, as well as a prelude and fugue and an incredible sonata for two pianos. My copy has gotten a workout, and I highly recommend this book for any keyboard player
